CALL FOR DANCERS - A Season in the Congo
The Young Vic’s are looking for dancers for their new main house production of A Season in the Congo by Aimé Césaire about Congo independence and the murder of Patrice Lumumba directed by Joe Wright and co-directed by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.
We are looking for three black dancers, ideally from an African background with strong African dance knowledge. African instrument/singing and puppetry skills are an advantage but not compulsory. These roles are not gender specific.
Rehearsals start in late May, with the production opening mid July and playing till August.
The casting will be led by Larbi’s associate Navala ‘Niku’ Chaudhari.
The dates for the production are:
Rehearsals w/c 27 May
Tech w/c 1st July
1st preview 6th July
Press Tuesday 16th July
Run guaranteed until Saturday 3rd August
Option until Saturday 24th August
Dancers will be on a company contract which is part of the TMA/Equity sub rep agreement, the full company are paid the same rate of £465 per week
