Born in Athens in 1983, Aimilios Arapoglou is a graduate of the university of Piraeus at the department of international and European relations. He completed his studies at the Greek State School of Dance in 2011. Since 2008 he has been working with Greek dance companies and performed both in Greece and internationally (Aerowaves Dance Festival 2011). After his graduation he was invited by Josef Frucek and Linda Kapetanea to take part in Deltebre Danza 2011. He has worked with Jukstapoz Dance Company on Self Storage, Rootlessroot Dance Company on Kireru, and with Anton Lacky during The Good Black Road. He has also performed for Damien Jalet in Les Médusés at the Louvre Museum and for David Zambrano in Tierras Enamoradas.
After Les Médusés, Aimilios Arapoglou continued working with both Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Damien Jalet: In 2013 he took part in the Boléro project at the Paris Opera as assistant-choreographer of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Damien Jalet and visual designer Marina Abramović and performed in 2014 in Shell Shock at La Monnaie. In 2015 together with Damien Jalet he worked on YAMA for the Scottish Dance Theater, VESSEL with visual artist Nawa Kohei, Gravity Fatigue at Sadler’s Wells and THR(O)UGH at the Hessisches Staasballet of Wiesbaden.
In 2016 Aimilios Arapoglou performed in Babel 7.16, the extended version of Cherkaoui’s and Jalet’s original piece Babel(words), at the Cour d’Honneur of the Festival d’Avignon.
