The versatile, Argentinian Alejo Pérez is one of the most promising conductors of the younger generation. He regularly receives invitations to conduct internationally renowned symphonic orchestras and ensembles. Various engagements brought him to opera houses like Oper Köln (Rihm’s Die Eroberung von Mexico and Jakob Lenz), Oper Frankfurt (Don Giovanni), De Munt (Adès’s Powder her Face) and the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires (Parsifal). For a long time he worked closely with Opéra de Lyon, where he conducted Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande, Schreker’s Die Gezeichneten, Stravinsky’s Le Rossignol and Henze’s Pollicino. He directed a varied repertoire as a guest conductor at Teatro Real in Madrid, ranging from Mozart’s Don Giovanni, to Wagner’s Rienzi and Wolfgang Rihm’s Die Eroberung von Mexico. Between 2009 and 2012 Alejo Pérez was music director at the Teatro Argentino de La Plata, a theater house that he revitalized with successful performances of Verdi’s Don Carlos, Berlioz‘ La Damnation de Faust and Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde. Recent projects include Gounod’s Faust at the Salzburger Festspiele, Jevgeni Onegin in Chicago and Lulu in Rome. During the season of 2017-18 he is involved in Pelléas et Mélisande by Opera Vlaanderen, Cherubini’s Medea at Stuttgart Opera, Weber’s Der Freischütz at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan (Japan) and Raskatov’s world premiere GerMANIA at the Opéra de Lyon.
