Michel Uytterhoeven new general manager Eastman
The board of directors of Eastman has nominated Michel Uytterhoeven as the new general manager of Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s dance company.
Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui: “I know Michel since 1995, I was 19 years old. I was taking part in the Best Belgian Dance Solo (a dance contest organized by Alain Platel). Since then he has supported me as a dancer, choreographer, artist. Therefor I’m very happy that, 19 years later, we’ll lead Eastman together into a new phase.”
Michel Uytterhoeven (1957) started his career as (co-)director of Stuk in Leuven in 1979, and founded the international contemporary dance festival Klapstuk. He coordinated the performing arts section of ANTWERPEN 93 / European Capital of Culture. He worked as financial director for Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods. In 2001, he became director of the VTI (Flemish Theatre Institute) and in 2005 he became general coordinator of Antwerpen Open/Zomer van Antwerpen.
Founded in January 2010, Eastman was set up to produce and spread the work of artistic director and choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Eastman forms the central point for all of his work: a vast array of projects ranging from contemporary dance, theatre, ballet, opera, musical and other forms of performance. Eastman is resident at deSingel - International Arts Campus (Antwerp).
