Andrea Bou Othmane is a self-taught Italian-Tunisian choreographer and movement artist. Born in Monza, Italy, his dance journey started in 2009 with electro dance, a natural extension of his friend group at the time. He progressed rapidly, eventually becoming the 1:1 Italian champion in this dance style. Since then Bou Othmane has appeared in a vast array of creative projects and shows on a global scale.

Rooted in improvisation, physical research and sensitivity, his practice explores the body as a living archive. His movement language is built through complexity, rhythmic shifts, changes in speed and precision, with sensitivity at its core. These elements become tools for an honest and open exploration of identity, allowing movement to remain instinctive, personal and constantly evolving.

In 2022, Andrea joined Eastman and began collaborating with choreographer and director Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, an experience that marked a significant turning point in his artistic development. Since then, he has performed in productions including the opera Idomeneo at the Grand Théâtre de Genève and the creation Ihsane as a guest artist with the Ballet of Geneva. His work with Cherkaoui and the company includes Antidote, Sutra as understudy to Cherkaoui’s original role, and the re-creation of Starmania, directed by Thomas Jolly.

Bringing together parallel paths of self-taught street culture and contemporary physical research, Andrea is currently working on KEBIR, a collaborative new creation with Nassim Baddag featuring the live voice of Mohammed El Arabi-Serghini. The project builds a sensitive dialogue on stage between generations, memory, and invisible bonds. In tandem with his independent artistic creations, his practice extends into music, fashion and live performance; he choreographed for GREEICY’s Candela Tour, bringing his movement language into the commercial music industry, and co-starred alongside Jorja Smith in the music video Try Me. His choreographic work in fashion includes the Roland-Garros x Perrier collaboration in Paris.

Alongside his work as a performer and choreographer, Andrea teaches internationally through training programmes, intensive workshops and festival laboratories. Teaching is an extension of his own research, allowing him to share and make his movement language and methodology accessible to others, while encouraging each participant to engage with it through their own body and individuality.
