Jonas Vandekerckhove studied contemporary dance at de ! Kunsthumaniora in Wilrijk and continued his education at the dance department of the Royal Conservatoire in Antwerp, where he graduated in 2014. Already in 2009 he had his first encounter with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, a moment that would greatly influence his development as a young dancer and choreographer. As a choreographer-performer Jonas Vandekerckhove creates his own work, like the pieces Discord and Versus. He worked as a dancer for Damien Jalet (Dédale, 2013), Tuur Marinus (Still Animals, 2016), and Kinga Jaczewska (Grey, 2017). Until now, he worked on several projects with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, like the operas Shell Shock, Das Rheingold and Les Indes galantes. Jonas was part of the revival of Puz/zle in 2016 and is original cast member of Pelléas et Mélisande, co-directed by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Damien Jalet and Marina Abramović in 2018.
