Australian born, Nicola Leahey graduated from the New Zealand School of Dance in 2009. She then went on to work with Australian based company Dancenorth, performing in Nowhere Fast by Ross McCormack, and in works by Raewyn Hill and Rob Tannion, amongst others. In 2011 she moved to Europe, working for Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, guesting in Faun with James O’Hara, in the premiere season of Puz/zle at the Festival d'Avignon, and in Valtari, a music video for Icelandic group Sigur Ros. Since 2012, Nicola has been working with Brussels based Compagnie Thor for the productions Clear Tears Troubled Waters, Cocktails and the solo ReVolt. Other projects include SHINE, a solo created by Elie Tass for the Laundry Service Festival in 2013, AGE choreographed by Ross McCormack (Muscle Mouth) for the 2014 New Zealand International Arts Festival and a duet by Elie Tass/Les Ballets C. de la B., for the Saint Amour Festival in 2015. Most recently, Nicola performed in the operas Les Indes Galantes (2016) and Satyagraha (2017) directed by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and is an original cast member of Cherkaoui’s Icon, created in conjunction with the GöteborgsOperans Danskompani in 2016. Nicola is a certified Yoga instructor since November 2015.
